Jonathan Clogstoun-Willmott
Acupuncturist in Near Tranent

Your health is my concern and I'm very interested in whatever has made you visit me. I try to understand your problem using my knowledge and experience (over 40 years since I began) and then suggest ways I may help.

I began studying in 1975, practising soon after, under the watchful eye of Dr Mary Austin - a famous London practitioner. She generously let me practise on her patients and then helped me build my own practice beside her. Eventually I went on to study in China and moved to Edinburgh in 1982 where I've worked ever since.

In Edinburgh I built up a huge practice but have now cut back and see patients on only one or two days a week. Even so, I'm glad to meet new people and glad so many people come as a result of a friend's recommendation.

Background & Acupuncture Qualifications

BSc Electrical Engineering at Edinburgh University; qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Edinburgh (though resigned my membership some years ago); then trained at the College of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture (LicAc), the British College of Acupuncture (BAc), and the College of Chinese Medicine Nanjing in China (DipAc). I have also trained in and use other forms of acupuncture such as Japanese acupuncture: this and my understanding of unified acupuncture theory (yes, there is such a thing!) have vastly improved my results.

I studied homoeopathy at the College of Homeopathy (LCH, MCH) and the Dynamis School for Advanced Homoeopathic Studies (PCH).

I trained in Chinese Herbal medicine at the Northern College of Acupuncture, (DipCHM).

I qualified in Bowen at the European College of Bowen Studies (CertECBS).

I have also trained in and practised various other therapies including Remedial Massage, Reflexology, and Shiatsu... and continues to attend courses on a range of therapies and techniques.

My Specialisms

Acupuncture and Homoeopathy are the two therapies most people see me for, but I frequently use Chinese herbal formulae too.

Approach to Acupuncture & How I Work

I meet you, listen to you, ask questions, examine you, take copious notes, then talk about your problem. I've written a website for you, explaining how Chinese medicine understands your problem. Thousands of people visit it from all over the world every day. If your problem isn't yet on it, it will be eventually: www.acupuncture-points.org.

Treatment: the right amount to help you get better. Sometimes only a little is the right amount. Others need lots.
