I began my experience in the therapy world as a client which gave me a deep understanding of working on personal issues from the perspective of the client. It was through that experience that I realised that I wanted to work in this field.
Over the years, I have completed many trainings. In summary, these are my qualifications:
- over twenty five years of experience of helping people with all kinds of issues;
- a registered member of the Terence Watts BrainWorking Recursive Therapy Institute;
- a full member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis since 2001;
- Certified Havening Techniques Practitioner
- Master Practitioner of NLP;
- Certified mBit coach;
- Playful Change practitioner;
- Continual professional development;
- Analytical skills developed from over thirty years experience as a lawyer (no longer in practice);
- Experienced commercial, workplace and community mediator;
A graduate of Cambridge University, in my spare time, I am chairman of a local conservation group, enjoy gardening and play the ukulele!
Currently, my focus is on helping people overcome anxiety, stress, negative emotions and insomnia. However, over my years in practice I have helped clients with all sorts of issues including stopping smoking, assorted phobias, fear of flying, bereavement, exam nerves, public speaking and confidence building.
Other than for stopping smoking, my sessions last an hour and a quarter and in that time we will discuss the changes you want to make and I will do my best to help you to achieve them.
You are in charge of how many sessions you have, and how often you have them - I do not expect you to sign up for a set number of sessions. I have clients who see me for one or two sessions, clients who see me for a number of sessions over several months, and others who I see for a session every year or two when something crops up. I am happy to discuss with you at any time whether you are getting what you want and what you would like to get from further sessions.
If you are looking for help to stop smoking, the way I do it, stopping smoking is a one session "treatment" lasting about two and a half hours - which gives me time to find out what motivates you and to tailor the session to your needs. The price includes a free "top up" if needed within a month.

I charge £90 per session (lasting an hour and a quarter) for people who are in employment and £60 per session for people who are not. However, I feel that it is important that people should get the help they need irrespective of their circumstances, so I offer two sessions a week at a reduced price. "Being in a distress state I visited Roger Gilbert where he taught me the Self-Havening technique. It is so easy to learn and really helped me de-stress. Once learnt it is simple to treat yourself at any time and any where. "

"I have struggled with anxiety for many years and when I called Roger a few weeks ago, it was beginning to impact heavily upon me. Roger suggested that we use havening, which I had not heard of before, and I stopped taking beta-blockers immediately after my first appointment; I just no longer felt I needed them. I recently began a new career and thanks to my second session with Roger, I have been able to work under pressure without a return to those feelings of high anxiety. I have since had a third session of havening and the release from such strong feelings of anxiety following just three appointments is astonishing. I am sincerely grateful to Roger for his help and support and cannot recommend an appointment with him highly enough."
