My background, before I started my Alexander Technique journey, was in business. I completed my master's degree in marketing, followed by an MBA in London. I have also been a partner in a family business for several years now. Family businesses can be quite intense at times, especially during decision making. I was always fascinated by how Alexander Technique can be so useful when it comes to challenging situations. Although Alexander Technique did not solve all my problems, it prevented me from amplifying them. It equipped me with a practical tool which allows me to sit and go through difficult issues, without losing myself.
In recent years I became interested in psychotherapy, with a special interest in CBT. The reason why I fall into wanting to become a CBT psychotherapist is because of its deep understanding of how we think and the beliefs that we carry into everything we do in life. I found it incredibly useful to explore those beliefs and understand that our emotions are a consequence of the way we think about situations. That approach brought me an understanding of how important it is to explore our thinking and putting it under the microscope of "why we think the way we do".
I am a certified Teacher from the Alexander Technique Training School in London (ATTS) and also a member of STAT (Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique) in the United Kingdom. I have been teaching the Alexander Technique to students who want to become teachers of the Alexander Technique at Alexander Technique Training School (ATTS) in London since 2017. I also teach privately in Central London, Marylebone area.
I am a certified CBT Therapist from the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies London (CCBT) and also an accredited member of the UK National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). All members of the NCPS are considered to be safe, competent, and ethical. In line with their guidelines, I have regular one-to-one and group supervision and commit to regular continued professional development.
As an integrative CBT therapist, I can draw on a mixture of evidence-based CBT and psychotherapeutic modalities to help us navigate and overcome challenges. Approaches such as Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Neuro Linguistic Therapy (NLP), Schema Therapy, Compassion Focus Therapy (CFT) could be helpful to bring psychoeducational understanding and help you to manage future life challenges.
My approach is to use Alexander Technique as well as CBT to help people overcome emotional gusts, pains and difficult situations in life. Alexander Technique can be very helpful in throwing awareness into how we respond body/mind when facing challenging moments in life.
Through observation and experimentation, we will be able to understand why we react in the way that we do and take that experience through our body/mind. Alexander Technique gives us the space to sit with those emotional disturbances. In that state of non-interference, we allow ourselves to experience our thoughts and emotions rather than trying to fix them. That approach of coming back to our connection between body/mind is explored during our sessions.
CBT helps us understanding the story that we bring into the therapy session and identify our unhealthy ways of thinking that lead to emotional gusts or pains. Very often the way we feel is a consequence of our holding of unhealthy beliefs or mindsets. CBT helps shift those unhealthy habitual ways of thinking to healthier alternatives ones. In that way, we can reestablish a more balanced way of living.
The session will be an interconnection between CBT and Alexander Technique.
