Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in Calne

I am an Integrative Counsellor and Supervisor in private practice working in Calne using a Person-Centred approach with touches of other related therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Transactional Analysis (TA). This integrative framework and my experiential training enable me to work in a way appropriate to your needs and covering a wide range of issues.

Confidential, non-judgemental, and down-to-earth, I will aim to develop a supportive relationship with you, where you feel safe to talk about the difficulties you are experiencing and to be yourself.

Background & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Qualifications

I am a Senior Accredited registrant of The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment; a space to explore difficulties and find resolutions. As a member of the NCPS, I am bound by their codes of Ethics and Practice. I am also an affiliate member of the National Centre for Eating Disorders.

My original diploma was a level 5 Psychotherapeutic Counselling qualification in 2008 and has been added to over the years with an advanced diploma in Practitioner Skills for Eating Disorders and an advanced level diploma in Relational Supervision.

Personal and professional development helps me manage my own learning and growth throughout my career. It keeps skills and knowledge up to date and ensures I practice safely and legally. Some of the other training I have undertaken has been in cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, working online, mindfulness, working with anxiety, obsessions, and narcissism. There have many other things too in the last 20 years!

Approach to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & How I Work

Contrary to what many people think, the role of a counsellor is not to give advice.

I will help you question the way you look at things and the way you behave or react to situations and people. I can also help you to develop new strategies for dealing with your situation.

I will do this by getting to know you, developing an understanding of your circumstances, listening to what you have to say, and offering support and insight.

I work with adults and young adults aged over 16 years old offering long-term open-ended support and short interventions for an agreed time, offering a place to take some time out to explore thoughts and feelings, feel supported and listened to, and understand any conflict in your life.

Counselling can help resolve difficulties by developing awareness and understanding, opening up new creative possibilities, and making change possible.
