I originally trained as a doctor in London and after graduating specialised in Psychiatry for a number of years. I then had a change of career direction when I started my family and, being interested in talking therapies, decided to train in CBT. I have developed a private practice as a CBT therapist and have now been doing this for 14 years. I have also completed qualifications in teaching and coaching. I am fully accredited by the BABCP to practise CBT as well as being on the GMC register with a license to practice medicine. I am also trained in EMDR.
I treat a wide range of emotional problems such as depression, anxiety, OCD, panic, PTSD, health anxiety and insomnia. I have a particular interest in using CBT with couples who have relationship difficulties and in using EMDR for people who have been through traumatic events. I also work frequently with young people aged 16-25, particularly those who are having difficulties with studying and/or problems at, or after, University.
I am also a University Examiner for a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT and a life coach so I help to train CBT therapists.
Although I work at 'high-intensity' level using CBT and EMDR techniques, I also like to tailor my approach to the individual and bring in other methods such as coaching, stress management, assertiveness training and problem-solving when these are appropriate.
