"Ruth has helped me far beyond my expectations. I went to start with a bit sceptical as to how it could help me but after a few sessions things started to make sense and the nightmares decreased. Ruth has also shown me some techniques that I can use if I feel "wobbly" at any time. This has enabled me to start driving again after a serious car accident when I thought I would never do it again. I can't thank her enough for all her help and support she has given me over the last few months. I would highly recommend her services with no hesitation at all.
Sincere thanks for your help Ruth

"I was very unsure and reluctant of beginning Cognitive Behaviour Therapy sessions after experiencing other specialist works that were unsuccessful in treating my OCD. I was increasingly unconfident that there would be no one able to help me deal with the OCD. It was a matter of persuasion from my mum to give the sessions a go. I began therapy with Roo at a point where I was very low and unable to deal with the frequently occurring OCD issues. Roo is a very welcoming, supportive therapist with a personality easy to get along with and someone who is comfortable to be around with. If I'm honest in the first 40 minutes of the first session I still remained unconfident that any therapist was able to help me. However, it was in the last 20 minutes that the whole thing just seemed to click, Roo talked about the OCD and started to compare it with real life situations. It took only few words from Roo for it too click in and see OCD in a completely different way. I realised Roo understood what I was going through and it was amazing to realise that I actually I might not have to live with OCD constantly anymore. The following sessions continued to help me understand the disorder more and more and give me many ways of combating any arising OCD issues. Within a couple of months, I finished the treatment and came out the end completely different to how started. I was able to stop OCD from my affecting my life and begin to live my life once again. I honestly cannot thank Roo enough, she was able to change my life around for the best and help me overcome OCD, something at one point I would never be able to do. Thankyou so so much Roo! xx "

"Ruth Slaney is a first class Therapist. She makes the impossible happen. With a combination of Rapid Eye Movement (REM) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT ) following a serious road traffic accident, I returned to my previous ability of driving on the motorway. Ruth Slaney gave me back my confidence, determination and peace of mind, something I thought had gone for good before being referred to her. I didn't think she would be able to "cure" me of my fears and concerns and resisted her suggestions of self help by giving good reasons why it wouldn't work. I was so surprised when it did. I have no hesitation in recommending Ruth Slaney to you."

"I was very apprehensive at first to seek help for my anxiety; I was embarrassed and scared no one would understand, and found it difficult to open up to people. However within minutes of meeting Roo her calm and friendly personality made me feel welcome and reassured that what I was suffering with was completely normal. I found it very useful that before starting EMDR, for the first couple of sessions Roo helped me understand what anxiety actually was and how it affects people and also the importance of mindfulness. From there we applied it to my situation and that's when I began EMDR. Roo helped me to process properly past traumas which left me in a completely different mindset and taught me how to think logically and calmly when I start to feel anxious. After finishing therapy with Roo I have the strength to prevent anxiety from ruling over my decisions and feel motivated again and have a more positive energy and attitude. I cannot thank Roo enough for the way that she has helped me and would definitely recommend her services. Thank you very much for your help, I'm very grateful! "
