Warren Foot
Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in Bedford

Hi , I'm Warren. I help people experiencing anxiety or depression or those that want to make changes to their life (at home or at work) but don't know how to start. People I work with will often be struggling with low esteem that affects their ability to live the life they want to live and make the decisions that they want to make. I help people with debilitating phobias or those who have suffered trauma and I support them to reach the goals they set to achieve the freedom they want.

I come from a place of understanding. I have experienced mental health trauma myself and know how all consuming it can be. I also know how daunting it can be finding the right therapist. Please just reach out. Let's have a no obligation chat so you can form a view as to whether you would feel comfortable working with me. My aim is to ensure you do.

I work both in person and online. Check out my website at www.warrenfoottherapy.com

Background & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Qualifications

Certificate in EMDR
Advanced Diploma in CBT/REBT Integrative Part l (Distinction)
Advanced Diploma in CBT/REBT
Diploma in CBT/REBT (Distinction)
Certificate in Counselling Skills
BA (Hons) in Social Science (including Psychology)
MA in Leadership and Change.

My Specialisms

I offer a range of therapeutic interventions. My training and particular interest is focused on Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) which is a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I also specialise in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing.

REBT and CBT are borne from the philosophy that people are not disturbed by events but by the view they take of those events. In other words it is our beliefs about a situation rather than the situation itself that lead to us becoming stuck in unhealthy negative emotion such as anxiety, depression or anger.

EMDR involves recalling distressing events while receiving bilateral sensory input, like side-to-side eye movements. This method helps individuals heal from trauma, extreme anxiety and phobias.

Approach to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & How I Work

I take clients through a process that helps them first to understand their unhealthy emotions, secondly to understand the irrational demands they are placing upon themselves and the beliefs that flow from those demands and then to help them change those beliefs by changing the way they think and behave.

With EMDR, after taking a case history, I take clients through the standard 8 stage protocol to help them deal with 'stuck' traumatic memories and thoughts.

The work is very much goal orientated. We work systematically through a problem, helping clients to build resilience and unconditional self-acceptance.
