I am a BACP registered Counsellor., and have over 20 years experience. I hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Marital and Couple Counselling , Theory and Practice. My initial training for this was with a well known Charity for whom I worked for 10 years after completing my training,, this included a great deal of voluntary work, which I found extremely rewarding and the knowledge, and experience I gained was exceptional.
I also hold an Advanced Certificate in Systemic Practice with Families and Couples from Birkbeck University of London.
Since my original qualifications, I have continued to increase my Professional Development in the realms of counselling and psychotherapy. Including courses on Addictions, Sexual Difficulties, Abuse, Anger and Self Image (Self Esteem, Body Image, Eating Disorders) and working with Adolescents and Young Adults.
My specialisms would be first and foremost Relationship Counselling and this is a broad spectrum which I think can spread across the traditional male/female / gender fluid couple to extended families and individuals. The term Relationship is I think any interaction between people and this can extend into any sphere of their life.
When a Relationship is not working as well as one would want it, or when any of the above difficulties occur, this can cause stress on that relationship be it at home, with friends or in the workplace.
I have found that certain trends have prompted me to work more regularly with addictive and compulsive behaviour in all it's forms.
I work mainly psychoanalytically and integratively, using whatever theory seems to be helpful. CBT is a useful tool for short term counselling but I do use transgenerationall therapy and Attachment theory, to work with issues from the past (family and situations) to overcome some long term problems. I use Systemic therapy and am open to many of the new techniques being presented including neuroscience.
I currently work from home and find the work life balance suits me now and so am more flexible in terms of offering Clients appointments that suit them and their work/home schedules.
I work Monday-Friday and offer daytime and evening appointments
My practice is on the ground floor.
I am English speaking
