Chhaya's interest in Complementary Medicine developed whilst working in training and management roles over 20 years ago. Her interest led her to explore a wide range of Complementary Therapies extensively. She has established a successful practice in clinics based at Ealing and Twickenham, West London, which offers a range of complementary therapies including counselling, CBT, EMDR, EFT and empowering therapies. She also offers talking therapies through Skype and telephone. Chhaya also treats various athletes in order to improve performance and injury rehabilitation and prevention as works with clients who have everyday aches and pains and injuries. She is a also a qualified supervisor and lecturer and runs her own Academy.

Chhaya is an accredited psychotherapist with BACP and BABCP, currently working in the NHS and in private practice. She is highly experienced in working with ethnic minorities and regular offers sessions in Gujarati. She has a keen interest in working with clients affected by trauma, particularly post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of domestic violence, sexual assault including childhood sexual abuse, bullying, phobias, OCD, anxiety, depression, panic, asylum and immigration issues. She has written reports for court hearings and attended court as an expert witness.

Chhaya works integratively and collaboratively with clients to help them understand how the mind and body affect each other, using a holistic approach. Chhaya can help clients work through traumatic experiences without having to verbalise events, if they are too overwhelming. Her approach includes using CBT, EMDR, EFT, Rewind Technique and Mindfulness in order to reduce distress, panic, anxiety and depression. She offers a positive psychological approach by motivating clients to make emotional and behavioural changes in order to build up self esteem and improve their mood.

Relationships between two or more individuals can be very stressful and can impact work/life balance. She believes that all relationships include working collaboratively and compassionately as a team and this includes helping clients to build a relationship with themselves. Chhaya helps clients navigate their way through their difficult journey, offering hope along the way.

Chhaya supervises complementary therapy practitioners and psychotherapists in group and individual settings working with their preferred models, whilst sharing insight of her own. This helps her to continue her journey in learning from others.

Due to Chhaya's extensive knowledge of working with trauma at different levels, she also offers counselling sessions to young people, families, couples and adults working with a range of issues including anger, bullying, anxiety, depression, stress, domestic and sexual violence, childhood sexual abuse, abandonment, loss, grief, trauma, PTSD, panic attacks and phobias. Chhaya works bilingually in Gujarati and has a keen interest in working with cultural issues within ethnic minority communities.

Chhaya recognises that clients often need a space where they can talk confidentially without being judged in order to understand what is stopping them moving forward and she therefore helps to empower them using a range of modalities. Where clients cannot express themselves, Chhaya will work experientially with them using play therapy, art, cognitive behavioural therapy, EMDR, EFT etc. If clients are unable to meet face to face, Chhaya also offers SKYPE and TELEPHONE counselling.

Chhaya is also able to offer supervision to trainees and qualified practitioners face to face, on the telephone or via Skype.

Chhaya specialises in treating cancer patients and has written her own CPD course in order to teach this specialism. She also works in the corporate environment both as an Ergonomic Assessor and as a massage therapist offering treatments such as: Seated Acupressure Massage in the Workplace, Indian Head Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Reflexology, Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage. Approach to Counselling & How I Work

Chhaya brings a fresh and enthusiastic cultural approach to her therapies, placing great emphasis on client and practitioner care. She draws extensively from her wide experience of mental health alongside body therapies to provide a holistic understanding of each client. She helps clients to work through traumatic events that may be causing them distress using EMDR, CBT, EFT or Mindfulness approaches. She also helps identify painful areas in the clients' bodies and work out causes and symptoms in order to resolve underlying issues that may be referring pain. Chhaya's knowledge of the human body is underpinned by her teaching experience in various body therapies up to examination level. She enables clients to find ways of coping with the distress and letting it go, whether physical, mental or emotional in a gentle way. Chhaya works bilingually in Gujarati and English
