Counsellor in Cambridge

We all find life hard some of the time, and sometimes, it can feel like it's not getting any easier. We all want things to be different, we want change. But change is hard, and it's harder to change alone. I help people with their difficulties. I help people to make the changes they need to make, to heal, to get back on their feet, to integrate past difficult experiences, and to finally live fuller and deeper lives.

Stress, anxiety, depression, loss, anger, pain, these are all perfectly human experiences, but they can sometimes get in the way of the life we have always wanted for ourselves. Change is difficult, but not impossible. It's still possible to free ourselves of the pain, hurt, and trauma that we carry.

It's still possible to let go of what holds us back and start again. I have experience working with people from all walks of life, who come from very different backgrounds from all around the world. I help people who are struggling with everyday anxiety and stress, and others with trauma, addiction, loss and suicidal thoughts. Don't hesitate to contact me.

Background & Counselling Qualifications

I hold a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from PCI College and a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University. In the years since completing my foundational training in Humanistic psychotherapy, I have continued to expand my knowledge and skills set by undertaking trainings in various other approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Existential, Mindfulness, and Gestalt. I have received specific training (EMDR) for treating trauma and (CAMS) for the management of suicidality.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), I work within their ethical framework of delivering therapy, and attend regular supervision in order to ensure my work maintains a high standard.

My Specialisms

I work a lot with trauma and grief. These are often, but not always related. I have found that a mixture of EMDR, mindfulness, CBT, and compassion focused therapy can be very helpful for responding to our grief and trauma.

EMDR is a body and mind focused therapy, which is different from traditional talk therapy, as there are some things you simply can't change by talking about them more. Using an EMDR approach can get at the root of our difficulties. I also use compassion and mindfulness-based exercises where helpful (and they're always helpful), while fully acknowledging that sometimes it's just hard being a human.

Approach to Counselling & How I Work

Every person is different, and no two people find the same things work for them. I work in collaboration with each person, finding what is most helpful for them, supporting them in their difficult experiences, and providing hope when things feel hopeless. I typically see people once a week, for both short and long term work.
