Frances Hamilton Counselling

Frances Hamilton
Counsellor in Bath

An important part of the work is to get to know and understand your early experiences of growing up and how these are present in the way you relate to others in your circle of contacts inside and outside your immediate family and friends. Your learnt ways of relating will over time become evident within the therapeutic relationship and where familiar difficulties can be worked through to gain a different and new experience.

What I provide is a safe space within a professional setting for you to explore your world, to experience sorrow as well as joy, the strength for which can be found in the longing to live fully and the willingness to settle for nothing less.

I tend to work long term, at once a week frequency leading to greater frequency if needed; shorter term work can be offered where appropriate. My Jungian training gives importance to dreams, imagery and spirituality where appropriate. These details and others can be discussed more fully at an initial appointment.

Background & Counselling Qualifications

Throughout the past 25 years I have worked extensively as a counsellor and psychotherapist with sufferers of anxiety and stress, anger, bereavement and loss, depression, eating disorders, low self-esteem, separation and divorce, trauma and abuse.

My experience has been gained by working for Cruse Bereavement Care, Southside a community family service, Penny Brohn Cancer Care, and Wessex Counselling Service; I have been in private practice for over 20 years.

I have been a supervisor of qualified counsellors and psychotherapists as well as those in training, facilitating groups and individuals over the last 20 years.

My counselling training was gained through Wessex Counselling Service, an affiliate of Westminster Pastoral Foundation (London), qualifying in 1999.

My psychotherapy training was gained through West Midlands Institute of Psychotherapy, qualifying as a Jungian Analytical Psychotherapist; I am a Professional Member and abide by their Code of Ethics and Good Practice.

I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and abide by their Code of Ethics and Good Practice.

My Specialisms

I have a particular interest in Anxiety, Depression, Low Self-esteem, Bereavement and Loss, Estrangement and Family Relational dynamics; that is not to say I am not interested in other areas of concern. I have experience in working with those who are wishing to train to become counsellors or psychotherapists.
