Gareth Wilcox (BSc Psychology & Counselling (Hons) Acc. Hyp. DHP)
Gareth is the driving force behind Able Wellness Talking Therapies. He believes that therapy should adapt to the needs of the client and be completely client focused and that means crossing the different philosophies and genres if needed in order to best facilitate the customer. Gareth is well versed in psychoanalysis, CBT, DBT family therapy and hypnotherapy.
Coming from a hospitality, sales and training background before becoming a therapist, Gareth brings both a wealth of lived experience and knowledge to the role as well as a rye sense of humour and a unique ability to empathise and understand different perspectives. He worked with the LGBTQ communities in Manchester and Brighton during the 1990's and is a strong advocator of the rights of the individual. During COVID he worked for the NHS and has a keen personal interest in dementia and child poverty.
Gareth is a member of the British Psychological Society. A member of the BABCP (Behavioural and Cognitive Therapy), A member of the European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapists, a member of the World Confederation of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapists, a Senior Member of the Accredited Counsellors, Coaches Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists and a member of the Professional Hypnotherapy Practitioner Association and International Hypnotherapy Association.
We deal with all sorts of things. From phobias to grief counselling, illness to weight loss and smoking cessation, helping to mend relationships, and helping people cope with change, preparing people to face life altering challenges and reassessing how you fit in to this ever-evolving world. We can build confidences and show people the way to become better versions of themselves.
We use all manner of talking therapies from CBT, DBT psychoanalysis, and all other talking therapies which also includes hypnotherapy.
From Smoking cessation, weight loss, phobias, confidence building, dealing with stress, trauma, loss, anxiety and depression.
Our approach is very much centered on you. We look at how you best respond and tailor our service accordingly. We will not draw out unnecessary therapy, we make it specific and targeted using every method in our arsenal to get to the root of your issue and provide you with a way forward.
Our initial consultation starts from £30. Hourly sessions start from £50
We offer face to face, online and home visits, if you can't come to us then we will come to you (within a 20 mile radius of the office).
We are Neurodiverse and dementia friendly.
