I completed a five-year, UKCP-accredited training in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regent's University London, qualifying with a Masters Degree and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling. I am a registered member of both the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by its code of practice and ethics.
As well as working in private practice, I have several years' experience of working within the NHS at Camden Psychodynamic Psychological Services. I have spent three years working for a London branch of MIND, and have undertaken a specialist bereavement training run by CRUSE.
My earlier career in corporate operational management has provided me with understanding and experience of the challenges of juggling the demands of work, relationships and family in today's world, whilst trying to maintain physical, mental and emotional well-being.
I work with adults and young people, on a one-to-one basis, providing therapy for many different issues including depression, anxiety, work related stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, trauma, alcohol and drug abuse, issues around identity and sexuality, low self-image and changing life events.
No matter what your background, circumstances or problems, I will provide you with a safe, supportive, confidential and non-judgemental space where we can explore together your inner conflicts and work through obstacles that might be holding you back - from being who you want to be or from living a productive and fulfilling life. It is within this collaborative, trusting relationship and through the experience of being met and understood that true healing can take place.
The way I work is informed by:
Psychodynamic therapy - which stresses the importance of early relationships, the role of the unconscious and how past experience shapes and influences our current thoughts and behaviours.
Existential therapy - which explores how we make meaning in our lives and the concepts of freedom and choice.
Humanistic therapy - stresses the therapeutic relationship as a reparative opportunity for recognising our own responsibilities, and facilitating growth and change by offering an empathic, non-judgemental, honest and trustworthy experience.
I also incorporate CBT and Mindfulness techniques into my work.
