I work as a qualified BACP Accredited Counsellor. I originally trained in a Person-Centred approach (Diploma achieved and qualified in 2010) and over the years have incorporated other approaches and have done courses in TA. Also, modules in CBT and Mindfulness as part of my MA at The University of Chester which I achieved my MA in Counselling Studies in 2016. Achieved BACP Accreditation status March 2021.
Following this, my approach has become more integrative and Solution Focused (which I use in another affiliate role whereby 4-8 sessions is the maximum) but grounded in a Person-Centred principle of autonomy. Thus, providing a space where the person can facilitate, with guidance, their own growth and awareness.
I am also self-employed as a Specialist Counsellor/Group Facilitator (since 2017) with the NHS funded TBC Healthcare. They specialise in weight management issues, exploring a person`s relationship with food, of which I help facilitate Psych-educational groups based around CBT, Mindfulness and Self-Compassion. We used to work with face-to face groups, but the company have now moved to online groups (Teams) since 2018.
I am also an affiliate counsellor with Health Assured. Previous to this I worked in the IAPT service in East Sussex. I now work remotely from home (since 2018), providing video and telephone counselling.
