Approach to Counselling & How I Work

Throughout my journey as a therapist I feel that I am fundamentally a person-centred therapist and this is the foundation of how I work. By offering unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence to every client, I have also felt that as a therapist I have developed a more integrative style of therapy which allows me to offer what I consider to be person-centred in the way that I can meet a client exactly where they are at and offer what is considered by the client to be beneficial.

I also believe that when I consider what is a ‘trauma informed approach' I feel that what this means to me as a therapist is that I consider the person rather than just the reason they are attending therapy. I believe that every person is the expert of their own story and that they have many strengths.

I feel my role as a therapist is to assist in overcoming things that challenge a person from accessing this inner strength. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower a client in that journey.
