I am a Registered Member MBACP (390997) of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Please note that due to insurance and safeguarding reasons, I am not able to work with clients outside of the UK.
As a young adult, I experienced my own mental health issues and sought help through talking therapy which allowed me to move through these struggles. It was these personal experiences that then inspired me to train in therapeutic counselling.
My qualifications:
- ABC Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
- ABC Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (2021)
I follow the BACP Ethical Framework in my practice and follow their requirements for continuing professional development. I have regular clinical supervision to help me support my clients in the best way I possibly can.
During my professional training, I volunteered at two community counselling agencies, offering online video, phone and face to face sessions with adult and young adult clients. I also volunteered at the Samaritans helpline for three years, providing emotional listening support to people in distress by telephone, email, text and face to face.
The person-centred approach to counselling focusses on each client's individual experiences of life. This approach means I can work with clients facing a wide range of issues in a safe, supportive, and effective way.
I've supported clients facing a range of issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, stress and low self-esteem.
I also feel I have a strong awareness of certain challenges that adults and young adults are facing, including social media, anxiety around the climate and ecological crisis, and education and workplace pressures.
The type of therapeutic counselling I offer is called person-centred counselling. In this type of talking therapy, our sessions will be focussed on what's going on for you in your life, and how it feels to be you. In our sessions, you can be assured that there's no wrong answer - there's only what feels right for you.
As your counsellor, I'll listen to you, without judgement, striving to understand your unique experience of life. We'll work together to develop a clearer picture of your world. By feeling truly heard, you may begin to relate to your experiences in new ways and gain a clearer and deeper understanding of what you're going through.
I believe each of us are the experts in our own experiences, so I won't offer you advice. Instead, I'll offer a confidential and non-judgemental space, just for you, where we can work together to explore your options.
As a result, you may identify things that you want to change in your life and things that you want to accept. You may begin to see ways forward that you couldn't see before, discovering new inner resources and resilience.
Above all else, it's really important that you choose the counsellor that's right for you.
If my profile has connected with you, please get in touch to arrange a free 30-minute no-obligation session so we can explore whether counselling with me feels like the right next step for you. For our sessions, you would need a comfortable and private space with a good WiFi connection, where you won't be disturbed.
