I am an experienced counsellor with a warm, friendly approach providing therapy for all types of issues such as anxiety, depression & trauma. I also special in rape & sexual abuse, loss & bereavement and working with military personnel.
I provide confidential counselling for all types of issues. I work in an integrative way using my vast experience of different counselling approaches to help you explore whatever is that has bought you to seek therapy.
Although my core model is person centred I also use cbt and other solution focused therapies to help you with your specific issues where required.
You will find me to be a warm friendly person who is easy to talk to and you will be surprised how quickly that first session goes as you begin on your counselling journey.
As well as being a counsellor I also have a wealth of life experience to draw upon much of which was spent within in a military environment which led to me working with soldiers, veterans and their families, from this my vocation to become a counsellor began. I have experience of counselling within a hospice environment, a rape crisis centre and have also provided loss & bereavement training to unit welfare officers within the military,
You may feel slightly apprehensive about starting your first session but honestly it will be worth it. Once you start sharing your issues within a professional environment you will experience how therapeutic this in itself can be.
As the sessions progress i will support you as you gain an insight into what is actually going on for you. Sometimes this may lead to making small changes in order for change to happen or find coping strategies for things like anxiety and other mental health conditions. For some people their journey may be about building confidence or they lack self esteem and together this is something we can explore and build upon. For other people they are unsure where to start and don't really understand what's going on for them other than something in their life is leaving them feeling ‘stuck' or just ‘low' counselling can really help with this too.
There are just so many reasons why people come to counselling and it is impossible to list them all but I hope this has given you an insight in to some of them.
Throughout your therapy you will find that you will begin to make sense of your situation and gain clarity on things you may wish to change, you may find answers you have been looking for and overcome challenges you never thought possible. You may have a better understanding of yourself and what is and is not acceptable to you. You will gain new insights too which will enable you to feel happier about your life and wellbeing.
