Mark Walsh
Osteopath in Eastbourne

My name is mark Walsh. I qualified from the European School of Osteopathy in 1985. I been in practice for 30 years. I have also taught Osteopathy at the European School of Osteopathy as well as been a clinic tutor there. I was an external examiner for the register of osteopathy at the British School of Osteopathy from 1996 to 1999.

Background & Osteopathy Qualifications

I qualified in 1985 with a diploma in osteopathy. I have run my own private practice since 1985, mainly in Eastbourne but I also run a private clinic in hailsham for half a day each week. Three other osteopaths work independently in the same practice in Eastbourne.

My Specialisms

As osteopaths we don't tend to specialize and in my case I enjoy treating a wide range of pain originating from the musculoskeletal system. This includes acute and chronic neck and back pain, Sciatica, neck related headaches and dizziness (cervicogenic), arthritic pain, knee pain and minor sports injuries.

Approach to Osteopathy & How I Work

I view each patient and their presenting problem as individual. Time and care is taken to individualise each treatment plan, with appropriate explanation of the diagnosis and proposed treatment. The average number of treatments required for a new problem is 3 to 4. Most patients will obtain significant relief very quickly. If the patient does not improve after three treatments, then they will referred to a different practitioner, often their GP. Long courses of treatment are not usually required.
