My Specialisms

I am classically-trained in art therapy and have broadened my approach with various CPD trainings to incorporate whatever is useful to support well-being and recovery. I am particularly interested in the clinical use of reverse psychology and humour to catalyse change. This is only ever done with your permission. Since 1998 I have run the Art for the Heart Art Therapy Group every Monday evening during term-time. This is for members of the general public who are interested in this way of working creatively, for people interested in learning about art therapy and developing group skills and more.

I facilitate many one-off workshops in the corporate and charitable sectors and am often booked to run trainings overseas. Each workshop is designed around the aims of the company. I have taught in Germany, Greece, India, Japan and South Africa, as well as the UK.

In 2016 I designed the first long training in the Supervision of Arts Therapists and have run this 6 month course fully booked every year since.

Approach to Psychotherapy & How I Work

I work with children, teens and adults with art-making integral to the therapeutic process.
I maintain an eclectic position, drawing on different orientations and modalities according to what will be helpful to the client, and in collaboration with the client. The process is transparent, creative, challenging and authentic. If this is of interest, you are welcome to book an initial session to see if you would like to work with me.

As a busy arts therapy supervisor, I work off-site with many art therapists working in the NHS, in schools, in adoption agencies, with refugees and more.
