Mark Reeves
Psychotherapist in Brighton

I offer a warm, welcoming, safe and confidential space (either online or in person) for you to address any of the personal issues that you may be facing.

If there are aspects of your life that you find challenging and you long to break free from some of the restrictive cycles and patterns then I would love to stand alongside you and give you my full presence and support, and together we can create a safe space in which you can find the courage to risk opening to the full potential that is within you.

Nearly everyone faces challenges and difficulties in their life at some time, whether that is stress over a job, anxiety caused by uncertainty over the future, loss because of bereavement, problems over addiction or difficulties in a relationship. Sometimes there is simply an inner desire for expansion and greater overall well-being.

We are all multi-faceted being with many layers and many different needs, and we are fundamentally whole and complete rather than broken and needing to be fixed. The therapeutic journey helps us remember that, to see it more clearly and to truly know it at the deepest level.

I also offer Nature-based therapy. Would you like to have your therapy sessions outside in nature? Taking the therapeutic experience out into our natural environment opens up a whole other level of connectivity, depth and embodiment. Our surroundings become an active element within the session, opening up our senses, and helping us reconnect with our self.

Aligned with Ecotherapy but focusing more on the ongoing individual therapeutic process, Nature-Based Therapy provides a deepening of your connection to nature and an opportunity to explore this relationship. When we open to nature as a teacher and let it be the guiding principle in the session it can be powerfully restorative and healing to our life as a whole.

Background & Psychotherapy Qualifications

I am a UKCP and BACP accredited psychotherapist and counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I completed my training in 2006 with the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in London. I have a Masters degree in Transpersonal Psychotherapy and Counselling from De Montfort University and I have been running a practise for over 15 years.

I have completed a foundation year in Body Psychotherapy & Somatic Awareness with the Chiron Centre and this emphasis on connecting with what is happening in our bodies is a key part of the way I work.

As well as working one-one with people I have for many years been running groups and courses in self-awareness, mindfulness & emotional intelligence for people seeking empowerment and change.

I have trained in the facilitation of Family & Systemic Constellations with The Centre For Systemic Constellations (CSC) and this has now become a central part of the way I work, incorporating it wherever appropriate.

I am trained in CRM (Comprehensive Resource Model) which is a powerful modality for helping people to safely and effectively process and release trauma

I adhere to the code of ethics of the governing bodies for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK and I have regular supervision to support me with my work.

Approach to Psychotherapy & How I Work

I believe that the healing therapeutic journey is not about effort or forcing things to happen but to find the courage to let go and surrender, and then life can work with us rather than against us. This is opening ourselves to a deeper current within, where we can reconnect with our inner-heart space and a stronger sense of true purpose.
Over time we can restore balance, self-care, and overall well-being. Along the way you may face some of your fears and doubts and come directly into contact with all of the hurt and pain you have been avoiding. But to take this step is very liberating as you are then more settled and at ease with who you are.
I work in a way that can be described as Integrative, in which I draw on various recourses and methods depending on each person's needs. The overall framework I use is known as Transpersonal. This simply means that there is an awareness of the spiritual dimension and our potential to connect with deeper levels of our being. It is the journey towards being a more whole & complete human being. I often work somatically and encourage you to tune into what is felt and sensed within your body. This immediately brings the focus into the present rather than the stories and descriptions which all come from the mind.
