I adhere to General Data Protection Regulations (GPDR), I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office; the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am fully insured.

I completed an intensive BACP accredited Post Grad. Training program in Psychotherapy & Counselling at the University of Brighton to work with adults, followed by specialist training to work therapeutically with young people in addition to adults. I currently run my private clinical practice in Hove and Worthing. I also have experience working within reputable Charities and organisations such as the YMCA (with students of BHASVIC college in Brighton), Arun Counselling Littlehampton and Broadway Counselling Services Shoreham. I work with clients of diverse needs, backgrounds and difficult stories.

My Specialisms

My practice is informed by both personal experience and rigorous training in Psychotherapy & Counselling. Prior to graduating in this field, I spent two decades teaching young people in education and workshops; and adults wellbeing through Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness practices which continue today. I found empowerment through sessions with a therapist myself and this inspired me to offer the same to others. Being truly heard, perhaps for the first time enables choices.

The branch of training* I had means I have an interest in what's happened to us, how we make meaning of it, then how we connect and relate both in a therapy room and beyond.

I have also experienced and learnt how our body-feeling-sense can really help us along the way. My background in practising and teaching body-and-mind practices over the last 25 years feeds into this, enabling us to connect more deeply to what is happening on levels not always ordinarily acknowledged, and can integrate really well with what arises in session.

Awareness of our whole selves can also help us tap into a deeper knowing of who we are and what is happening in our lives. As increasingly backed up in the current world of neuroscience; I believe that getting to know our nervous system can help us to better understand what is happening for us over time.

*My Psychotherapy training was in Humanistic theory and principles, through an existential lens.

Approach to Reiki & How I Work

After initial introductions and listening to you explain your situation, I might at times bring our attention to how you are feeling in the moment so we might explore some more self-awareness and curiosity.

Or we might review any themes unravelling, whilst checking these resonate with your lived experience.

My intention is for you to feel empowered to work through what is happening, moving forward in a way that serves you. This helps me so we can work together step-by-step; enabling you to find more clarity and understanding on the choices available to you. I also like to explore and acknowledge the unique situation you are in, in your relationships, social group, family and cultural influences. All of these play a part within your journey. Additionally, we can explore where you have come from on your path, and how you experience and see the world. Much like the sails on a boat; navigating all the weather around it, I am alongside you on that journey of gently unpacking it all, as our relationship develops in your own time.

Research tells us the most important feature of successful therapy is the relationship. I understand first-hand from being a client myself how important it is to feel safely held in a non-judgemental space to express those deeper concerns. I offer the same which is why it is important to me that you feel we are a ‘right fit'. Not every counsellor is right for every client, and although it may naturally take time to build trust; my intention is for you to feel comfortable in a warm, friendly and confidential alliance as we work through things together as two human beings in a room. In addition, although every client teaches me and informs my experience as a therapist; how I work with you will not be the same as any other client; I tailor my experiences and understanding to respond and work with your individual needs, session-to-session.
