In Good Faith—Full Moon in Pisces—September 2nd

Where do we begin? Begin with the heart—Julian of Norwich.

Tonight’s shimmering Full Moon invites us to trust the ebb and flow of our feelings, to allow our heartfelt longings to gently dissolve into answers.  In the gentle brush of moonlight, we may feel more attuned to the messages from our body, those places that demand our attention, that ask us to tend to our inner life. This Full Moon may be a celestial reminder that all life is in constant flow, that change is constant.  Tonight’s Full Moon is a contemplative Full Moon, more suited to reflection and visualisation than going out and doing things. The element is water, and as water reflects, it also cleanses and releases those things that must end so that something new may be born. This is not a week for hurry or hasty decision-making but for arriving at the answers with a gentle recognition. As the energy of the Full Moon washes over us, we may feel tired or inexplicably irritated, as we strain to do things that go against our natural rhythm. If possible, take time for a long soak in the bath, prepare a delicious meal, get to bed early. Now is the time to pamper and nourish our bodies, to acknowledge our feelings, to attune to the seasonal shift in silence. We may wish to place a prayer or a blessing into a bowl of water, or the ocean or a stream, as a symbol, to strengthen our connection to the element of water, remind ourselves to stay moist and fluid, and to be willing to flow around those things in our lives that that appear as obstacles. Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, is associated with the element of life-giving water. Dr Masaru Emoto writes, “Water records information, and while circulating throughout the earth distributes information. This water sent from the universe is full of the information of life...”

Tonight’s Full Moon in Pisces draws us into our heart space, offering us instruction through our dreams, or in the rich and fertile place of our imagination. As the luminaries touch Uranus by trine, we may feel inspired as our hearts are infused hope, our actions arise from faith.

If the underwater dance of the two fish of Pisces has been washing over your dreams, the tidal pull of the waxing Moon, surging and pulling at your emotions, take a moment to attune to the wisdom of your soul. “The soul always knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind,” writes Caroline Myss.

At night, I open the window
and ask the moon to come
and press its face against mine.
Breathe into me.
Close the language-door
and open the love-window.
The moon won't use the door,
only the window―Rumi
